Youth Forum

What it is

We want to hear what young people have to say about our work and their ideas on how to protect our environment. We also want to pass on the skills and training young people need for anything from having a greener perspective on life, to a long and fulfilling career in conservation.

The Youth Forum will help us shape the future of Shropshire Wildlife Trust. Members will work closely with staff and trustees to contribute to the direction, policy and performance of the trust, and carry out projects that benefit wildlife and nature and raise awareness of our work within our communities.

We hope that by being involved young people will:

  • Gain an awareness of how charities, in particular Shropshire Wildlife Trust and The Wildlife Trusts, are run
  • Build confidence, learn new skills, and become aware of career options and pathways in conservation
  • Gain an awareness of ways in which individuals and communities can benefit nature

Feel empowered to advocate for nature in their communities and beyond – to local authorities, in the wider region, and to national government

Be a part of the change you want to see

The Youth Forum is open to anyone aged between 16 and 30 and live, work or study in Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin. If you are interested in being involved  email youth@shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk and we will be in touch with more information.

On Saturday 13th July, we will be holding an event at our visitor centre in Shrewsbury for all those who are interested, to introduce our vision and ask for your help to shape what the Youth Forum will look like.
