Outside of nesting season - August to MarchAbout the reserve
Betchcott Hill is nestled between the Stiperstones ridge and the Long Mynd, neighbouring the ancient Portway and overlooking the Shropshire plains. Home to meadow pipits, skylarks and a pair of nesting curlew, Betchcott Hill is brimming with potential.
Visitors can enjoy spectacular views of Shropshire and spotting various bird species swooping overhead. If you venture down into the Dingle you'll encounter some wet woodland and may even spot some heather.
We're going to be putting in a lot of work to restore this acid grassland habitat and make it a haven for wildlife. So while we encourage you to get out and enjoy nature, you'll need to be mindful when you visit Betchcott Hill. Make sure that dogs are kept on-lead to avoid disrupting the nesting birds, and be aware that there may be grazing animals and land management works in progress when you visit.
