Catchment Based Approach (CaBA)

What is Catchment Based Approach?

The Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) is an integrated, community-led approach to catchment scale environmental restoration and protection. By recognising that we all rely on and benefit from having a healthy water environment, CaBA brings together Government, Local Authorities, Water Companies, businesses, communities and more to work together to protect over 100 river catchments across the UK.

A key feature of this approach is that it is not bound by county boundaries, which means action can be taken at a catchment scale allowing for greater collaboration and impact.

There are five CaBA catchment partnerships in and around Shropshire: Severn Vale, River Teme, Severn Uplands, Shropshire Middle Severn, and Worcester Middle Severn.

How is Shropshire Wildlife Trust involved?

Shropshire Wildlife Trust cohosts the Shropshire Middle Severn partnership with Severn Rivers Trust, bringing together 45 plus partners to facilitate coordinated efforts, shared information, promotion of debate and the development and delivery of projects that address the causes of poor river health in the Severn catchment.
