Charles Darwin in Shropshire

Celebrating Darwin

This year, Shrewsbury is celebrating 210 years since the birth of Darwin. The DarwIN Festival runs from 8th until the 24th February and features dozens of events dedicated to the great man.

Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury and was a pupil at Shrewsbury school. It was during his formative years in Shropshire that his fascination for the natural world began to develop- an interest that would eventually see Darwin become a true icon of world natural history.

Visit the Original Shrewsbury website for more information about the festival.
